Space-saving swaps
| Item | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Walk-in shower | Removes the visual barrier of a tub |
| Floating vanity | Shows more floor |
| Wall-hung toilet | Saves depth and is easier to clean |
| Large-format tiles | Fewer grout lines, bigger feel |
| Recessed niches | Storage without protrusion |
Layout and fixtures
- Swap a tub for a glass-enclosed walk-in shower to open the room.
- Choose a floating vanity with drawers.
- Fit a wall-hung or compact toilet to save depth.
Surfaces
- Use large-format marble-look tiles on walls and floor.
- Run the same tile into the shower so the room reads as one space.
- Add a recessed shower niche instead of caddies.
Light and luxury
- Hang a large round mirror with wall sconces either side.
- Choose brushed brass or matte black fixtures for a high-end look.
- Add LED lighting in the niche or under the vanity.
- Use a heated towel rail for a hotel touch.
Tip: Use slip-resistant tiles on the floor and shower base, choose a thermostatic mixer to prevent scalding and make sure the bathroom fan is vented outside to control moisture and mould.
